A Note From the Principal

September 20, 2026

Dear Wildcat Families,

Let me begin by thanking all parents who were able to attend the Parent-Teacher conferences Friday! It was wonderful to see so many families on campus! These conversations are so valuable as we work together to support student learning and keep the lines of communication open. Thank you for continuing to partner with us!

What a great week we have ahead of us, Wildcats! It is Homecoming Week, and we are ready to show our Wildcat Spirit!

Along with lots of learning, we have a week full of fun activities and opportunities to celebrate together. We can’t wait to participate in the district’s Homecoming dress-up days! In addition, we have the following events going on after school:

Monday: GLE is proud to host the SISD Board Meeting on our campus!

Wednesday: Look for GLE in the Homecoming Parade! We will have our very own float! Come out, cheer loudly, and support our Wildcats!

Thursday: Our 5th graders are invited to the 5th Grade Homecoming Dance in the Greenleaf Cafeteria on Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.! School dress code still applies, and students who receive an office referral this week will not be eligible to attend.

Friday: We’ll wrap up the week with the Homecoming Game against Montgomery at 7:00 p.m.!

We have so much to celebrate this week, and I can’t wait to see our community come together. Let’s fill the week with learning and school spirit!

Campus Spotlight

Our 3rd–5th grade Wildcats put their best foot forward as they interviewed for campus jobs!

Students received valuable practice with real-world skills such as introducing themselves, answering interview questions, communicating professionally, and showing why they would be a great fit for the job.

We are so proud to see our Wildcats stepping up with confidence, responsibility, and leadership! Students will receive their job offers and contracts on Tuesday!

Walker and Biker Safety

Last week, we received a few concerns about walker and biker safety during arrival and dismissal. We want to make sure everyone gets to and from school safely!

Students riding bikes or scooters should remember that they share the sidewalk with pedestrians. Please ride carefully and give a clear, audible warning when approaching someone from behind. They can say, "I'm right behind you!"

We also ask walkers to stay to the right so bikes and scooters can safely pass on the left.

We’ll review these expectations with students at school, and we ask families to please reinforce them at home, especially with children who ride a bike or scooter to and from school.

In celebration of Homecoming, the Splendora ISD Education Foundation is hosting a Class vs. Class Alumni Giving Challenge! Alumni are invited to donate in honor of their graduating class, and we’ll track which class shows the most Wildcat pride.

Consider giving an amount inspired by your graduation year—for example, a 1991 graduate might give $19.91. Please include your class year with your donation so your class receives credit.

The Class of 1980 has already set the bar high with a $3,800 gift supporting all 19 of our first-year teachers. Help us celebrate Homecoming by sharing the challenge with the Wildcats in your life!

Gather Your Team and Get Cooking!

The Splendora ISD Education Foundation’s Men (& Women) Who Cook fundraiser is coming up Saturday, October 24, at The Nathaniel Center—and we are looking for more chef teams!

Parents, staff members, friends, businesses, and community groups are all invited to put together a team and serve a favorite appetizer, entrée, side, drink, or dessert. No professional cooking experience is required. This is simply a fun way to represent your campus or organization, connect with our community, and help create more opportunities for Splendora ISD students and teachers.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available beginning at $200. To learn more about entering a chef team or becoming a sponsor, contact Katie Key at kkey@splendoraisd.org.

Daily Schedule

Doors Open: 7:50 a.m.
Classes Begin: 8:35 a.m.
Tardy Bell: 8:40 a.m.
Absent After: 9:31 a.m.
Dismissal: 4:10 p.m.

Arrival and Dismissal Notes

Students arriving late must be signed in by a parent with valid ID.
All transportation changes must be submitted in writing by 2:30 p.m.
Email changes to: rasanchez@splendoraisd.org
Phone calls are not accepted.
Early checkouts must occur before 3:30 p.m. After that time, all students must be picked up through the car rider line.

Meals

Breakfast and lunch are free for all students.
Parents may eat with their child in the cafeteria on days the campus isn't closed to visitors.
Please only bring food for your child due to allergy concerns.

Attendance Policy

Students must attend school regularly per state law.
Send a note with full name, date, and parent signature upon return.
3 parent notes are allowed per semester; doctor’s notes may be submitted any time.

Deliveries

Food deliveries from vendors (DoorDash, etc.) are not allowed.
Items like forgotten lunches may be dropped off in the front office.

Volunteers

To become a volunteer or attend a field trip with your child, complete your volunteer application TODAY.

All volunteers must submit a background check.

Dress Code

Greenleaf does not require uniforms.
All attire should meet SISD’s Student Code of Conduct. Administration may request a change of clothing if needed.
