A Note From the Principal

Happy Labor Day Weekend, Wildcat Families!

Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday in observance of Labor Day.

We hope everyone enjoys the extra day with family and comes back ready for a great week!

This week, our teachers will begin sharing MAP assessment results with families. This is important information that helps us understand where students are currently performing, celebrate their strengths, set goals, and identify areas where they may need additional support.

We are excited to partner with you as we help every Wildcat grow!

3rd - 5th Grade Wildcats Are Going to Work!

We are also excited to bring back our GLE Campus Jobs program!

Our 3rd–5th grade students will have the opportunity to apply for real jobs around our campus, including Birthday Supervisor, Hallway Greeter, Cafeteria Manager, Reading or Math Tutor, and Morning Announcement Assistant.

And yes, they have to apply AND interview!

Applications will open this week. After they are submitted, Mrs. Ott, our Guidance Counselor, Ms. Smoot, our Assistant Principal and I will schedule interviews with our applicants before officially offering positions.

Campus Jobs give our students the chance to practice responsibility, communication, leadership, and service while experiencing what it is like to apply, interview, and be accountable for a job.

Students who successfully complete their job responsibilities will also earn House Points that can be exchanged for privileges and spirit items in our store!

I am so proud that we can offer this experience again this year. At GLE, we aren't just preparing students for the next grade level, we are helping them discover that they are capable of contributing, leading, and making our school a better place right now.

We missed our Attendance Goal for August by .1%, but I know we can reach our goal in September!

Last Week's Percentage: 91.9%

The storm really threw our attendance into a tailspin, but there is still time to reach our September goal!

September Goal: 96.5%

The class with the highest attendance in their grade will receive popsicles during recess on October 2nd!

Counselor's Corner

Hello, GLE Families! I am so excited to work with your students this year! Each month, I meet with every classroom during Specials for a Guidance Lesson focused on helping our Wildcats grow socially, emotionally, and personally.

I also work with students in small groups and provide individual support when needed. If you would like for me to meet with your child, please complete the Counselor Referral Form linked below.

Gather Your Team and Get Cooking!

The Splendora ISD Education Foundation’s Men (& Women) Who Cook fundraiser is coming up Saturday, October 24, at The Nathaniel Center—and we are looking for more chef teams!

Parents, staff members, friends, businesses, and community groups are all invited to put together a team and serve a favorite appetizer, entrée, side, drink, or dessert. No professional cooking experience is required. This is simply a fun way to represent your campus or organization, connect with our community, and help create more opportunities for Splendora ISD students and teachers.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available beginning at $200. To learn more about entering a chef team or becoming a sponsor, contact Katie Key at kkey@splendoraisd.org.

Daily Schedule

Doors Open: 7:50 a.m.
Classes Begin: 8:35 a.m.
Tardy Bell: 8:40 a.m.
Absent After: 9:31 a.m.
Dismissal: 4:10 p.m.

Arrival and Dismissal Notes

Students arriving late must be signed in by a parent with valid ID.
All transportation changes must be submitted in writing by 2:30 p.m.
Email changes to: rasanchez@splendoraisd.org
Phone calls are not accepted.
Early checkouts must occur before 3:30 p.m. After that time, all students must be picked up through the car rider line.

Meals

Breakfast and lunch are free for all students.
Parents may eat with their child in the cafeteria on days the campus isn't closed to visitors.
Please only bring food for your child due to allergy concerns.

Attendance Policy

Students must attend school regularly per state law.
Send a note with full name, date, and parent signature upon return.
3 parent notes are allowed per semester; doctor’s notes may be submitted any time.

Deliveries

Food deliveries from vendors (DoorDash, etc.) are not allowed.
Items like forgotten lunches may be dropped off in the front office.

Volunteers

To become a volunteer or attend a field trip with your child, complete your volunteer application TODAY.

All volunteers must submit a background check.

Dress Code

Greenleaf does not require uniforms.
All attire should meet SISD’s Student Code of Conduct. Administration may request a change of clothing if needed.
